The Union Bar, together with J&B Scotch Whisky, has launched a new concept pop-up bar that is like no other bar we’ve seen before.
Union Bar, who are known for converting any space into a fully functioning bar, has formed a partnership made in cocktail heaven with J&B. Not only have they created a new trendy place for Joburgers to visit, but they’ve also created an entirely new and exciting cocktails menu that only they know how.
This is a worthy collaboration that will play on the J&B brand’s legendary 42 single malt and grain whiskies, and bring the subtle, smooth and balanced character to the fore whilst mixing it up with some of the best mixologists in the country.
As for the venue? Union Bar fans will be pleased to know, the bar is back by popular demand, at Norman Goodfellows Dispatch Warehouse, 18 Chaplin Road, Illovo, only this time the venue will lend its unique charm to the bold red, yellow and green of the J&B brand.
From the Speyside region in Scotland, famous for single malt whiskies, comes the fruity, fresh quality so sought after by connoisseurs and at the J&B Union Bar you can try it all, of course. From neat and on the rocks to exotic flavours with outlandish names such as Smoke & Mirrors, Glitter & Grit and Shake, Rattle & Roll – presented in imaginary ways.
And that’s not all. Apart from the super cool and tasty cocktails, J&B and The Union Bar will also collaborate with various visual artists to bring the physical space to life. To give each artist his or her moment in the spotlight, each collaborative art piece will be revealed separately throughout the three months that the bar is open.
The bar opens to the public on Friday 23 June and will run until Saturday 9 September. Opening days are only: Thursday 18h00 to late, Friday and Saturday 18h00 to 02h00 . Entrance is R50 at the door, but entrance is free for reservations made via the website, www.theunionbar.co.za
